Utility Bill Assistance

Financial assistance from Louisville Gas and Electric

Call them as soon as you think you may have difficulty paying an utility bill and before you think you may need assistance. Some of the programs they administer include:

Partial payment plan - This may allow the Louisville Gas and Electric customer to either pay a portion of their utility bill (just to keep their service on) or pay the bill in installments.

Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program - The program provides assistance to LG&E customers who are facing a home heating crisis or disconnection of their heat or power. It can offer qualified individuals and families with seasonal financial assistance and/or cash grants to prevent utility cutoff. There is also a crisis component to this program, which offers immediate relief.

Medical letter exception - Some people can’t have their utility service turned off for life threatening medical or health care reasons. If this is you, call Louisville Gas and Electric immediately.

Budget Billing - This in effect spaces the customers utility bill so it is paid over the course of 12 months. It allows customers to budget their expenses much more effectively.

Community Winterhelp, Inc. - This resource provides emergency heating bill assistance, and the program runs from January to March of every year. It is open to low to moderate income households, the disabled, and elderly in crisis situations, and it can help those that are currently without heat or are in immediate danger of being without heat.
