Utility Bill Assistance

Questar Gas Reach utility program.

Both utility and other bills, such as heating, can be paid using the Questar Gas Reach donation program. The goal is to help customers facing a short term crisis keep their power on. Not only that, but it provides people a way to donate to the local Utah community in which they live, as all the money raised is used to help the less fortunate.

More information on the application as well as the donation process is below. There are many different options for families in the service territory. People can always call the company directly as well to talk over their personal situation.

In order to donate, customer can make recurring contributions to the Questar Gas Reach Program. This includes round up or a designated dollar amount. If someone does enroll into this monthly type subscription service, they can stop it at any time as well.

So one of the biggest advantages to the recurring process is that it simplifies it for the donor. The money will just be a portion of what they are already paying each month on their utility bills. This type of contribution will also be tax deductible, and the customer will be given a summary each year for tax filing purposes.

The Reach Program also accepts one time donations too. Whether it is a couple dollars or more, this will also be tax deductible. All of the funds contributed will also go to the utility bill assistance program itself and not paying for any of the administrative costs, even though they are low.

In many chases, the charitable foundation of Questar Gas will match a person's contribution. This means that if a family donates say $10, the company may match this by $5 to make it even more effective. Or there may be funds contributed by employees or customers of the company.

As noted, the program will help pay the energy bills or those in a crisis. This is a one-time only service, so the applicant needs to be able to pay the bill on their own in the future. If they can't do that, then it is recommended that they explore other utility programs from Questar Gas, such as LIHEAP. Those are more effective longer term solutions. In either case, the money is used for the following.

  • Questar Gas Reach can help for heating bill for seniors.
  • The disabled in Utah can receive assistance.
  • Families with young children are also beneficiaries.
  • Customers with a medical condition may receive short term support.

Whether donating or applying for help, it is best to call Questar Gas as soon as possible. If someone falls too far behind on any type of utility bills than it is not likely that the company will be able to assist. The main number is 800-328-9272.
