Utility Bill Assistance

Wake Forest H.O.P.E. utility bill assistance

Short term, one-time utility bill assistance is available in the Town of Wake Forest North Carolina. The town and the charity ChurchNet both accept recurring as well as one-time donations, and they also provide funds to struggling customers for paying their energy bills.

All the money raised for the service goes to the less fortunate, with 100% of funds for energy bills, heating costs, and gas bills. It is short term assistance, and the fact that hundreds of town residents often face disconnection each year the funds are greatly appreciated. The energy bill assistance can put off a disconnection and in effect provide the family more time to pay their bill on their own.

ChurchNet and Town of Wake Forest

Both of the organizations partner together on this service. Both organizations collect donations from the public. However, ChurchNet is the charity that collects applications for financial aid. They review them to determine who is eligible for help and ChurchNet also disburses funds to the needy in the town.

Anyone can contribute. 100% of the donation is tax deductible. There are donations from residential customers, commercial accounts, as well as charities In the Town of Wake Forest. There will even be some funds donated by town officials, such as the Mayor or members who work in one of the many offices.

Recurring monthly as well as one-time donations can be provided to H.O.P.E. All sorts of dollars amounts are always needed. There are instances of people giving anywhere from $1 to $50 (one time), with the smaller amounts being done on a recurring basis. The donor can either mail in a check or have the amount added to their next monthly utility bill.

ChurchNet is the charity that administers the assistance part of H.O.P.E. All the money is used to pay Town of Wake Forest Utility Bills. The funds are also only for qualified low income residential accounts. A business that is based in the town can’t receive financial help for their bills; instead they will need to see other options ranging from payment plans to extensions on their account. That form of help is negotiated on a case by case basis.

Assistance from H.O.P.E. is only for low income Town of Wake Forest utility customers. They need to have a limited income as well as savings/assets to their name. Applications must formally be submitted to ChurchNet at the phone number below. Provide proof of income and other documentation.

Since funds will always be limited (and depend on donation levels) not everyone who applies will be given assistance for their energy bills. In fact, only a fraction of the hundreds or thousands of struggling families are approved per year. Other applicants will be referred to other energy assistance programs in North Carolinas such as LIHEAP. To learn more, or for applications to HOPE, the phone number is 919-569-0020.
