Utility Bill Assistance

Alabama low income utility assistance funding.

The annual allotment of state of Alabama and federal government funding is being disbursed to non-profits in Alabama. All funding is to be used to assist low-income families with paying their utility, heating, and home energy bills during the winter. Alabama Governor Robert Bentley has made an announcement that the state will be receiving almost $35 million dollars this year for utility bill assistance, and all money is passed out on a first come basis.

To apply, residents should call or stop by their community service agencies, and applicants need to meet all eligibility requirements. Everything will be based on the household’s income, family size and available resources. If after applying, if the application is approved by the agency, cash payments will be made directly to the utility companies on behalf of the Alabama residents. The funding from Gov. Robert Bentley and the state is being provided to the following community service agencies in Alabama, with a focus on paying heating bills during the winter.
