Utility Bill Assistance

City of Lenoir LCUB Neighbor Aid utility bill assistance.

Families or individuals that live in the City of Lenoir, who are struggling to pay their utility bills, can get assistance from the Neighbor Aid program. Donations, local charities, city employees, as well as The Good Samaritan Center (among others) all help run this service. They collect donations and use the work of volunteers as well as charities to help pay light, electric, heat, water, and other utility bills in the Lenoir region.

All of the financial help is only for paying Lenoir City Utility Board bills, or LCUB. The donations raised from the community, as well as the financial help from the Center, is not for other energy, electric, or light bills. LCUB matches the contributed money, and allow customers to give back, but they do not process applications for utility bill assistance. Neighbor Aid is only for bills that may be due to LCUB – not rent, housing, or other costs.

Donations are collected by Lenoir City Utility Board. Customers, whether private households or businesses, can write a check to the company for any amount they want to contribute. There can also be monthly contributions made on a recurring monthly basis (or bill) to the Lenoir City Utility Board. Those recurring donations can be started or stopped at any time. LCUB Customer Service Representatives can provide more information on how to contribute.

Benefits to donating to the program are extensive. In addition, 100% of the funds collected go to help the low income pay their utility bills. Also, contributions are tax deductible on both state and federal government forms, which can lower the donors income tax obligation – and that is obviously a huge benefit. The last advantage to giving back is that Lenoir City Utility Board will match those donations dollar for dollar.

The Good Samaritan Center offers Neighbor Aid

This is a local charity that administers several services as well as financial resources in the City of Lenoir and Loudon County Tennessee. The Good Samaritan Center is a leading charity in Loudon County. In addition to offering emergency utility bill help from the Neighbor Aid Program, the charity may also give food, clothes, and other goods to the needy. All of this is also based on the applicant’s needs as well as donations available. Everything they do is intended to help the low income as well as struggling families.

LCUB does have some other assistance programs though – just not applications to Neighbor Aid. The company can offer payment plans, applications to LIHEAP grants, free energy conservation measures including audits of the home, and more. But when it comes to energy bill help from Neighbor Aid, dial the Good Samaritan Center at (865) 986-1777.
