Utility Bill Assistance

City of Miramar loveDROP utility bill assistance program.

Low income customers in a financial crisis can get help with their utility and electric bills from the City of Miramar loveDROP donation program. The city administers the service locally, with 100% of the donations coming from local sources and 100% of the money raised goes to help local families with their energy bills.

Donations are used to pay for loveDROP. There are contributions that come from individuals or families. Businesses, corporations, and charities in Miramar may also donate to the donation program. Those who give back can be certain that all of the money will go to pay utility bills – no funds go to administrative costs. In addition, state of Florida and federal government tax breaks can be provided to donors as well.

Applying for loveDROP electric bill assistance

First of all, the funds are only for residents of the City of Miramar. In addition, most of the donations also come from individuals as well as businesses in the city. This is not a utility bill assistance program for the larger state of Florida.

The applicant needs to be in a financial crisis. They also need to have a low to moderate income. There can also be some assistance for other exceptional circumstances. As an example, the City of Miramar loveDROP utility bill assistance program may help a senior citizen stay cool during the summer months or help someone with a sick child who needs their power on. Or maybe the unexpected death of a spouse, the city will allow donations to help pay the utility bills in that situation.

Not only may electric or light type bills be paid (including AC during the summer), but the City of Miramar will also allow water bills to be paid in some cases. This is another use of the donations from the community. As the fact is it is critical for a customer to have their water turned on too.

loveDROP can also be combined with various other energy bill assistance programs. There is direct financial help or conservation programs from a utility provider. Payment plans or other donation type services may also be offered depending on the situation too.

There are different ways to donate as well. Often, when a former beneficiaries crisis has been resolved, they often then give back to loveDROP. As they are grateful for being assisted and then want to give back themselves to the less fortunate.

The ways to donate include, but are not limited too, the following. Main in donations or recurring payments can be made. There may also be contributions done online at the City of Miramar website. Otherwise one time checks can be mailed in as well as part of the donation program, and that money too will go towards loveDROP and utility assistance.

For more information on applying and/or donating, the main City of Miramar office and customer support team is at 2300 Civic Center Place, Miramar, FL 33025. Or dial (954) 602-4357. Utility assistance and other social services can be explored.
