Utility Bill Assistance

Entergy Arkansas Power to Care utility assistance

Customers of Entergy in Arkansas that are facing a serious financial hardship can apply for utility assistance from Power to Care. Or, the other option for those who want to donate back to the community or even their neighbors, they can contribute to the Power to Care program.

It serves two purposes. First of all, it is a donation program that allows individuals as well as businesses  across Arkansas to give back to the less fortunate in the community. They can contribute any dollar amount they want, and all of the money will go towards assisting with utility bills for qualified households. The funding will stay local as well, in the same community. The donations can be one time or on a recurring basis, so there are some different options available.

The second goal of the Entergy Power to Care is to of course help low income customers, in particular those that are faced with a loss of power. This is an emergency program with limited funds. The money will also prioritize those people who are most at risk without electricity. That group would be a senior citizen or maybe a disabled person. So they will take priority to receiving any funds.

When donating to Power to Care, anyone can do this on a monthly basis. This is most likely done using a round up approach. So the current utility bill that is being charged will be rounded up to the nearest dollar amount. So if it was originally $50.45, the final statement sent to the customer will be $51.00. The difference of 55 cents will be contributed to Entergy of Arkansas Power to Care. This money will then fund the service.

Another way to contribute is to make a one time donation. This can be any dollar amount that the person wants. Similar to above, all of the money will go to providing assistance with energy bills to clients, and the money will not go to administrative costs. So this is another option for people from the community.

Families that need help with their utilities can apply for assistance. The priority will be for senior citizens facing a disconnection. Other clients will be those with a medical crisis, or people with a very short term financial emergency.

Entergy Power to Care is not intended to be a long term solution. The dollar amounts provided will be very small and short term in nature. Entergy of Arkansas will recommend that people think about this program as providing them time to get back on track. It may allow the person more time to negotiate a payment plan for their utility account. Or it may allow the customer to apply for other aid, such as LIHEAP.

The money donated, and paid out, will stay local. Customers can even think about this as a neighbor helping neighbor concept. So donors may in fact be helping an older person who lives right down the street from them that is facing a crisis.

To learn more, call the Arkansas based Entergy company at 1800-368-3749. A formal application process is in place. As noted, there are conditions that need to be met in order to receive assistance. However anyone can donate at any time to Power to Care, and Entergy appreciates all contributions to this program.
