Energy bill assistance from New Jersey Natural Gas 

The utility offers customers several different assistance programs. They are for low income customers, people facing a short term hardship (such as a medical emergency), or others who just need a little help for a short period of time.

Gift of Warmth - This is an assistance fund that was started by customers, local businesses, and shareholders of New Jersey Natural Gas. This assistance program was first created by New Jersey Natural Gas to help low income and other struggling customers with financial difficulties who cannot afford to pay their monthly energy bills. The Gift of Warmth fund may be able to help low to moderate income eligible households, as well as those customers that are experiencing an unanticipated financial hardship or temporary emergency. This utility and gas bill assistance program is administered by the United Way through local Community Action Program (CAP) agencies. NJ SHARES - New Jersey Statewide Heating Assistance and Referral for Energy Services. This assistance program is a statewide fund that helps families and individuals across New Jersey Natural Gas’s service territory pay their energy bills. It was intended to help people who are facing a temporary short term hardship, and who need financial assistance with paying their energy bills. It may also be able to help people who have exhausted other forms of energy assistance from the federal government or the state of New Jersey.

New Jersey Natural Gas supports the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP)/Universal Service Fund (USF) - The federal government funded Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) provides cash grants and financial assistance to help low income-eligible individuals with paying their monthly utility bills. This assistance program is administered by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs through local Community Action Program (CAP) agencies, the Salvation Army, and other non-profit agencies.
