Utility Bill Assistance

Rocky Mountain Power Lend a Hand donation help

Rocky Mountain Power uses donations from individuals and businesses in an effort to help seniors and the disabled with paying their utility bills. The Lend a Hand program uses both one time contributions and people can also donate on a recurring, monthly basis, and all funds are used to assist qualified low income vulnerable families in Idaho.

Over the years, thousands of families have received financial assistance when they are in some time of crisis. However, it totally depends on the generosity of Rocky Mountain Power customers, and if they are not generous in their donations, then less fortunate households may have their heat or power shut off when they need it the most.

While customers do need to start the donation process, Rocky Mountain Power employees and the company itself will match those funds too. In many cases, they will double the amount that is contributed, so this puts the utility bill program the patch to assisting many more people. So this means that a contribution can be even more effective when matched by the company. The money raised will go to help low income families across the state of Idaho.

All the money raised will go to senior citizens as well as the disabled. They need to meet income requirements and also be faced with some type of crisis, so this program is for exceptional circumstances only. There may be funds for seniors who had a spouse pass away, or someone that was recently found to be disabled. The contributions from Lend a Hand and the Red Cross can help people with their utility bills, if they are faced with these types of conditions.

In rare cases, there may be assistance for heating or utility costs for families with young children that are sick. This can occur while the family is applying for disability, so the program is flexible.

All contributions to Lend a Hand are tax deductible and can be made through donation envelopes. As noted, Rocky Mountain Power or maybe some employees will match the funds raised. People can also call the company to make a one time or recurring donation as well, so there are multiple ways to contribute.
